2. Water flows through a pipe at 20°C. A venturi meter is introduced in the flow to measure the flowrate. The throat diameter of the venturi meter is 10 mm and the diameter of the pipe is 25 mm. Assuming steady state, what is the pressure drop in the venturi meter in mm of H₂0 when: (a) flow rate through the pipe is 102 m³/s. (b) flow rate through the pipe is 103 m³/s. (c) flow rate through the pipe is 104 m³/s. What assumptions did you make during your calculations? Check the validity of the assumptions. At what flow rates can I use manometers to measure the pressure drop? Properties of water can be obtained from Appendix B of the text book.
