7. Consider a spur gear system shown in Figure 6. The centers of Gear 1 and Gear 2 are on the
vertical line, and the centers of Gear 2 and Gear 3 are on the horizontal line.
We chose the gears from the table as follows:
Gear 1= (S6), Gear 2 = (S4), Gear 3 = (S5).
On Gear 1, the driving torque 100 in-lb is applied. Due to the dynamic equilibrium be
tween the driving torque and the resistance torque, the gears are rotating at constant speeds.
Assume that no external torque is applied to Gear 2.
