2. The modulating signal: m(t) = 2 cos(4000*II*t)+5 cos(6000*II *t) is used to
modulate the carrier signal: c(t) = 100 cos(2*II*fc*t) where fc = 50KHz.
a. Conventional AM
b. DSB-SC AM
Indicate: fm, fc and the modulation index μ.
(Note: if the message signal has more than one sinusoid in the equation →
m(t) Aml cos(wlt)+Am2 cos(w2t)+ etc.... use the equation:
i.e.:
=
Am(t)= sqrt[(Am1)2 + (AM2)²+ (Am3)2+ etc...] to find the amplitude of
the message signal to use to compute the modulation index.
Determine the equation of the modulated signal in both time and frequency
domain and plot its characteristics in the frequency domain for each case.
Compute the average power of the modulated signal for each case.
3. Suppose the modulating signal m(t) and the carrier signal c(t) are given below.
Given: m(t)=0.2 sin(w1t) + 0.5 cos(w2t), modulates c(t) = 100 cos(2*I*fe*t)
using conventional AM. Assume: fl=500Hz, f2-750Hz, and fc >> fl,f2.
