Problem 3: The spring of modulus k-3.5 kN/m is stretched 10 mm when the disk center O is in
the leftmost position x=0. Determine the tension T required to position the disk center at x=150
mm. At that position, what force N is exerted on the horizontal slotted guide? The mass of the
disk is 3 kg and gravitational acceleration g is 9.81 m/sqs. (20 points)

2) Force applied by spring is F=kAx, Ax=Spring Deflection, the Spring is already deflected for 10 mm
and if you stretch it 150 mm more, the total stretch will be 160 mm that is your Ax in this problem, also note: 3.5
kN/m-3500 N/m
