16. The curves shown below were prepared by a student after performing wind
tunnel experiments on a scale airfoil model in the Aerolab. The tests were done
on the airfoil alone, the airfoil with flap only, with slat and flap and lastly with a
turbulence generator. Using these graphs, prior to performing his actual aerial
maneuvers a pilot calculates the slowest possible speed at which he can achieve
stable, level flight. He determined from his initial calculations based on flying
with the airfoil alone that he would be able to maintain stable level flight at exactly
250mph. Using the lift coefficient graph below, how much slower can the pilot fly
after employing the use of only flaps?
