a) A plane passive reflector 10 ft x 16 ft is erected 21 miles from the active site and
only 1 mile from the other. 2a = 100%. The operating frequency is 2000 MHz. By
formula for free-space loss for the longer path is 129.5 dB, and for the shorter path
it is 103 dB. Calculate the gain GA of the passive plane reflector and hence the net
path loss.

b) Stability of an amplifier is an important consideration in the microwave circuit
design. It is the resistance to oscillation in a microwave circuit. State the two
conditions for stability of microwave circuits put forward by Rollet.

c) The S parameters for the GaAs FET at 2 GHz with a bias voltage of Vgs = 0 are given
as follows:
