Try #1 for today's Class Problem.
1. Consider the demand price function p(x) = 50 - 0.3x², where
p is in dollars and x represents the number of items stocked by
a storekeeper.
(i) Draw axes and sketch the demand function. Label both axes
with UNITS.
(ii) Next, suppose the storekeeper decides to price the items at
$39.20 each. Sketch this horizontal line on the same graph. (I.e.
draw y=39.20.)
(iii) Calculate the intersection point of these two curves. Then
label it on your sketch.
(iv) Now set up the definite integral expression for the area
between the two curves.
(v) Finish by finding the area.
(vi) In a complete English sentence, state (v) with UNITS.
