Consider a wall heated by convection on one side and cooled by convection on the other
Express the heat transfer rate through the wall in terms of T1, T2, hi, h, A-wall surface
area, wall thickness, Ax, and wall thermal conductivity, k.
One side of the wall (heating) has the air temperature 200°C, while the other side of the
wall is exposed to a convection environment (cooling) having 100°C. The convection
heat transfer rate is estimated to be h₁-20W/m²-°C on the 200°C side, and that on the
100°C side is hy-45 W/m²-°C. The wall has k-2.0W/m-°C and is 40 cm thick. Calculate
the heat transfer rate through the wall per unit area.
