Given:
The system on the right is initially at rest. A force F, which is a function
of time t, is applied to the cord of the system as shown. Block A of that
system has a mass of 10 kg. Neglecting the weight of the pulleys and cord
and assume that F-45(1-e) N.
Find:
a) The acceleration of block A.
b) The height y(t) that block A rises as a function of time assuming that
the block is initially at rest.
c) Plot the height y(t) as a function of time.
Hint: Motion starts when the force (or hook) pulling on block A is equal
to the weight of block A.
Bonus (10 Points): Can you use the principle of impulse and
momentum to solve some part of this problem? If so, then show how.
