thrown into the back seat of a car traveling to a lake. During the time the car with
rolled up windows is parked in the Sun, the glass water bottle and the water inside
goes from a temperature of 20°C to 55°C. The air
trapped inside the water bottle was at 1 atm of absolute
pressure when the bottle was capped sealed at 20°C.
a) Convert 55°C to °F.
b) Calculate the change in volume of the water
and the glass bottle.
c) Calculate the new volume of air inside the
bottle.
