Design encased spur gears with input power P₁=10 kW, input rotation speed n=960rpm, gear ratio u=3.2; design life is 16 hours per day, 250 days per year for 10 years. The input power is from an electric motor, no shock and unidirectional drive. Pinion is made of 45" steel (250 HBS, quenched and tempered) and gear is made of 45" steel (210 HBS, normalized).
