The elves love fir tree tea before bed. Fir tree tea must be made in a certain way to taste its best. The
elves first harvest the small light green leaves located at the very top of the fir tree. They must then dry
the leaves in the sun for two weeks. Once the leaves are dried they can be kept for up to three
months. To make the tea the water must be at 88.0 °C before placing the leaves in the pot. The elves
have determined the best way to get the water to this temperature is to heat a rock to 601.8 °C in a
fire (this is the max temperature of the elvish fire). When the rock is hot they quickly move it to a the
teapot that has a very precisely weight amount of water (all water in the elf cove comes from the center
spring which has a constant temperature of 20.0°C). When an elf reaches a certain age they must buy
their own tea rock. Elfish tea rocks have very high specific heats and are bought based on their specific
heat capacity (the higher the better). The tea rocks are weighted when they are bought. The elf's first
job, after they buy their tea rock, is to determine the amount of water that can be heated by their rock.
Annie is a young elf learning how to make tea. She travels to the store, selects her tea rock (it is pinkish
gray rock with sparkles) with a specific heat capacity of 14.542 J/g °C. the store elf tells her that the
mass of her rock is 16.20 g. Annie must now calculate the mass of water she will use to make the tea,
please help her determine the mass of water needed for the tea pot so she can make her tea perfect.
The specific heat capacity of the water is 4.18 J/g °C. (Please enter you answer as a whole number and
no unit the understood unit is grams).
