Transcribed Image Text:
A natural gas stream in a pipeline condenses a 0.05 GPM over a distance of 15 km. If the 15 km
pipeline segment is pigged once a day, and the total volume of the condensate removed by the pig
is 5 gallons over a total time period of 30 minutes,
(a) calculate the volume flow rate of the natural gas stream at the normal condition in cubic meter
per hour (ie. Nm³/h)
(b) by assuming ideal gas behavior, calculate the actual volume flow rate of the natural gas stream
(in m³/h) if the operating temperature and pressure of the segment of the pipeline in question are
25 °C and 10 barg respectively
(c) by assuming the speed of the pig is the same as that of the gas and that there is no gas slippage
around the pig, determine the internal diameter of the pipeline in millimeter (mm)
Data given:
1 GPM 0.141 m³ liquid per 103 Nm³ gas
=
1 gallon 0.00454609 m³
Normal condition: Temperature-0 °C and Pressure-1.01325 bar
