Question 3 (30 points): We are interested in designing a system to move water through pipes from the front of an industrial plant (near the water main) to the back, which is 100m away. We have a pipe (diameter 0.02m) already in place for most of the path and we need to add a bit more pipe to get the water to the proposed location (see sketch). The pipes are pressurized with a gauge that reads 300 kPa at the water main starting point. There are 3 elbows in the 0.05 m pipe, followed by a reducing tee juncture which moves the water to the 0.02m pipe. There are another 5 elbows in the 0.02m pipe (not pictured). The change in height is negligible. The exit is at atmospheric 100 for flow from the 0.05m pipe to the 0.02m pressure. The reducing tee juncture has an pipe. The elbows in the 0.05m pipe and the elbows not pictured (5 elbows in the 0.02m pipe) each have an=30. Assume no major losses exist in the 0.05m pipe length and the roughness throughout the system is Ɛ= 0.00006 m. Find the expected exiting flow rate. 300 kin 0.05m Kee. 0.02m to 100m w/selbows
