2) A regenerative gas turbine power plant is shown in Figure 2. Air enters the compressor at 100 kPa, 300K
with a mass flowrate of 5.8 kg/s. The turbine inlet temperature is 1400 K. The compressor pressure ratio is 8
and turbine and compressor operate isentropically. The power plant incorporates a regenerator with
effectiveness of 80% and negligible pressure drop. Property data is given in Table 2. Sketch a labelled T vs s
diagram for the cycle showing the state points and determine (by air-standard analysis) the following:
a) the net power developed (in kW);
b) the heat input to the Combustor (in kW);
c) the cycle thermal efficiency;
d) the rate of exergy destruction in the regenerator,
in kW, for To 300 K.
