QUESTION JOINTS: BOLT AND WELD 110 80 Οι -2000mm- -45- -25- 1(b) E B 3000mm- H 1(a) H -50- OB 1(c) The diagram 1(a) above show a load P = 1.0 kN supported by a beam held at both side to fixed wall. The beam is bolted at joint A by 3 bolts and welded at joint B to the wall as shown in diagram 1(b) and 1(c). The point O, is the centroids of the bolted joint and point O, is the centroid of the welded joint. I B. CHOOSE QUESTION B(I)-BOLTED JOINT OR B(II)-WELDED JOINT [Pilih Soalan B(I)-Bolt atau B(II)-Weld]. Do not use answers obtained in question A(II). At the bolted joint, if the moment and the shearing force acting at centroid OA are assumed to be 200Nm and 225N respectively, Calculate i. The primary load (force) ii. The secondary loads (forces) at each bolts iii. The resultant load (force) of the most critical bolt iv. Find the appropriate size of the bolt of Property Class 12.9 assuming safety factor as 3.0. Your solution must include the complete freebody diagram showings all the acting forces and the resulting primary and secondary forces acting on each bolt.
