5. Outside air at 35 °C db and 17 °C wb temperatures is mixed with return air at 26 °C and
60% relative humidity. The mixture is sensibly cooled by passing it through an air cooler
then it is adiabatically humidified to 90% relative humidity by spraying water before
entering into the air conditioned space. The room sensible and latent heat gains are 275
and 70 kW, respectively and the mass flow rate of the return air is three times that of the
outside fresh air. The inside design temperature and the relative humidity are 24 °C and
50%, respectively.
Sketch the process on the psychrometric chart and find the followings:
a- Cooling capacity of the air cooler.
b- Mass flow rate of water that must be sprayed.
c- Dry bulb temperature immediately after the heating coil.
d- Mass flow rate of supply air.
e- Volumetric flow rate of supply air.
