3. A 400mm diameter well fully penetrates an unconfined aquifer whose bottom is 80m below the undisturbed groundwater table. When pumped at steady rate of 1.5m³ per minute, the drawdown observed in two observation wells at radial distances of 5m and 15m are respectively 4m and 2m. Determine the drawdown in the well. 4. A 300mm well fully penetrates a confined aquifer 30m deep. After a long period of pumping at a rate of 1,200 Ipm, the drawdowns in the wells at 20 and 45 m from the pumping well are found to be 2.2 and 1.8m, respectively. Determine the transmissibility of the aquifer. What is the drawdown in the pumped well? 5. A 250mm diameter well in an unconfined aquifer is pumped at a uniform rate of 3000 V/minute. The drawdowns observed at 1m and 100m distances from the centre of the well are 8m and 0.4m, respectively. Determine the hydraulic conductivity of the water-bearing strata, assuming the thickness of the saturated part of the aquifer is 25m. 6. A 100mm diameter well penetrates a 10m thick confined aquifer. The steady state drawdowns were found to be 2.5 and 0.05m at distances of 10m and 40m, respectively, from the centre of the well, when the well was operated with a constant discharge rate of 125 V/minute for 12 hours. Using the Dupuit-Thiem equation, calculate the transmissibility and hydraulic conductivity of the aquifer. 7. Calculate the hydraulic properties of an aquifer using Theis' method. The pumping test data at a constant rate of discharge Q of 0.006 m³ per minute is as tabulated here below (Table 1). Table 1 Elapsed time t, Drawdown s (m) (min) Distance of observation well from pumped well, r 0 30 90 5 0.490 0.130 10 0.680 0.207 20 0.700 0.306 30 0.750 0.365 50 0.795 0.427 60 0.820 0.450 90 0.870 0.495 180 0.934 0.570 300 0.990 0.613 480 1.050 0.700 600 1.053 0.704
