Problem 2 (6 points)
A tank filled with a gas is connected to the manometer shown in the figure below. The manometer
has three fluids with different densities. The other end of the manometer tube is open to the
atmosphere. In the figure below, the heights Z₁ is 40 cm and Za is 50 cm. The specific gravity of
the three manometer fluids are as follows: for fluid 1, SG₁-0.75; for fluid 2, SG:-0.85; for fluid
3, SG-1.The density of water is 1000 kg/m'. Gravitational acceleration is 9.81 m/s². Note that the
atmospheric pressure is 100 kPa. Also note that the gas in the tank has comparatively small
density.
(a) Determine the absolute pressure in the tank.

(b) Is the pressure value you obtained above telling that we have vacuum in the tank?
Explain your answer.
